Hearts stitch journal 07 January 2018

Dark and blustery this morning, with huge drops of rain (we were forecast snow). But the first thing I saw this morning, in the light from the doorway, was  honesty seeds. In spring the flowers make a beautiful magenta splash under the lime-green leaves of the parrotia persica tree, and this winter they’ve held their own as shining silver pennies. This heart has detached chain infill, in a vintage rayon perlé thread. I’ve longed to use this thread because it looks so beautiful on the spool and I thought it would be a dream to sew with but it was a nightmare! It twisted and knotted with every stitch, and I had to unpick several loops. So this morning’s stitch meditation turned out to be a lesson about patience…
