Dark and colder this morning, with flashing orange lights from the tractors already working across the fields. Just as I was thinking that must mean rain (they lime the fields before rain to break up our clay soil), I passed the end of the petit bois and was hit full in the face by rain and wind – a light, cold rain, like snow. Today’s threads are variegated machine embroidery rayon that shades from dark blue-grey to white, and silver Kreinik blending filament. I sewed the outline with eight strands of the rayon, then infilled with rows of reverse running stitch, leaving large gaps. Then I did a second pass with two strands of rayon and one strand of filament – it gives a sparkly effect, though I’m not sure you can tell in the picture.
