Hearts stitch journal 17 January 2018

Real storms overnight, with howling banshee winds that scared the dog, and heavy rain, but my walk this morning coincided with a brief, clear period, and I could actually see across the garden, as there was less cloud cover. Today’s heart shows cornus sanguinea ‘winter beauty’, planted for its winter colour in our walls beds and doing a fine job of it. Just as I sat down to sew, the rain began again… The threads are yellow tapestry cotton, peach tapestry cotton and darker peach rayon machine embroidery thread: two strands of each for the outline and main stems and one strand of each for the twigs. This was fun to sew and built up an effect very quickly.
