Up very early this morning and it was pitch black outside – a thick, velvety darkness that was almost tangible. The wind was roaring in the trees as I walked down the lane and it was curiously warm. The wind suddenly intensified for no reason, giving me a slight visceral fear and I was glad to get back to the house, with the golden light streaming through the curtains. Today’s threads are a six-strand black embroidery cotton and a single-strand yellow and gold crochet thread that has been in my stash so long I can’t remember where it came from. The outline is double chain stitch, which gives a 3D braided effect – not sure you can really see it in these pictures, even though I shone my work light on it, so I’ve also done one with flash. The infill is just running stitch.
