Hearts stitch journal, 14 February 2018

A cold, icy morning with the grass mint-white with frost. On every twig and berry hung dewdrops frozen by the sudden drop in temperature overnight. Today’s threads are vintage mint-green and dark brown perlé cotton no 5 by Cartier-Bresson, vintage red Peri-Lusta six-strand embroidery cotton and silver DMC embroidery thread. The stitches are a stitch I (think I) invented for the outline when I was stooging around, which is basically an overlapping elongated cross stitch, stem stitch for the twigs, spiders wheels for the berries and satin stitch for the dewdrops.
