Hearts stitch journal 07 March 2018

Another grey and misty morning and nothing much to see on our walk other than the wall pennyworts, which are now putting out leaves at a rate of knots on the piled-up stones of the bocage bank. This plant is also known as navelwort or penny-pies and is edible, especially good after rain – rather like an iceberg lettuce. Today’s threads are coton à broder no 0 that I dyed variegated grey; lime green retors d’alsace no 12, variegated green soft cotton perlé, matte green coton à broder (about no 22, I think) and dark green coton à broder no 20. The stitches are threaded running stitch for the outline and buttonhole wheels, eyelet and backstitch for the pennywort leaves.
