Hearts stitch journal 02 April 2018

A grey day with a marbled sky, though at least – unlike the UK – we have no snow and it’s not especially cold. The honesty is coming into flower all over the courtyard now. Like cabbages, honesty is a brassica and is quite closely resembles oilseed rape, other than the colour of the flower, with its big leaves and heads of small flowers. Today’s threads are all coton à broder and the stitches are whipped Palestrina for the outline, stem stitch for the stems and infilled detached chain for the leaves and flowers.
