Hearts stitch journal, 19 April 2018

Another beautiful day with the sunrise pouring through the cherry blossoms in the orchard and blue skies for our walk down the lane. I now have an embarrassment of riches from which to choose in the mornings but I chose ducks, because as we walked, a flock of mallards made their way overhead in the direction of the chateau lake. Today’s threads are variegated orange/pink Indian rayon, vintage rayon flosses in black, brown, green and white, purple Indian rayon and straw-coloured six-strand cotton. The stitches are double threaded detached chain for the heart, back stitch and straight stitch for the bird and a French knot for the eye.
