Day four of a rose rotation.
Calligraphy Rose was another fragrance recommended for me on Bois de Jasmin as a rose-incense combo and to my mind, it is exactly that.
Gorgeous, heavy, boozy red roses with great dollops of incense, very dry and strong to start with but drying down to a soft, ambery finish. It’s pretty long-lasting, even on me. Not office-safe, I would say – too strong – but luckily I work from home, so I can please myself. However, when I wear it to meet friends, I do get compliments. Designed for the male Arab market, I feel – the bottle is very masculine with its wooden cap, probably produced by the Spanish firm Pujalos – but it can be worn by all sexes.
This is my favourite winter rose and I also love its sister, Calligraphy Saffron. Both were flankers to the original Calligraphy and all three are sadly discontinued.
