Day two of an incense rotation.
This is a fragrance that does what it says on the tin – it starts with a great blast of lavender (the rather medicinal French kind), then quickly moves to the incense part, which is very smoky and dry, slightly warmer than the Avignon I wore yesterday.
Serge Lutens is sometimes criticised for producing ‘bases’ rather than proper fragrances and this is the kind of perfume that gives rise to that – it’s very two-note and not remotely worth the price of the 190-euro bell jar. Nor does it deserve, I feel, a place among the ‘Exclusives’ range, which are designed to pull people into the shop.
That is not to say it’s a bad fragrance – it’s perfectly nice and I would wear it very happily if someone bought it for me, but I would not spend my own money on it. Mine is a 5ml decant from a vendor I use frequently on French Ebay.
